Parenting Skills

1142977406Things were so different in the past.

You may not be able to relate to your kids because how your parents raised you does not work today.

Gone are the days of “tough love,” “authoritarian discipline,” and corporal punishment. You may not be pleased with the parenting you received as a child, and now your teenager tells you that your conduct is abusive after being educated by a video they saw on Tik Tok.

What is a parent to do? These days parenting is the most challenging job in the world and can sometimes be confusing.

Children face different challenges today.

The lives of children are very different from what they were in the past, and the world is becoming increasingly complicated and connected.

Raising a child in the digital age is challenging. Social media can provide helpful information for your child’s educational development and connection with friends and family. At the same time, children need to learn how to navigate social media in a way that minimizes cyberbullying and access to inappropriate material.

For parents who both work, finding a balance is hard, especially when it comes to having meaningful family time and constructive interaction with their children. In other words, parents need to stay involved in their child’s life.

Children experience transitions as they mature, learn more, make close friends, and encounter the challenges presented at school. These can be difficult for parents because their children might refuse to interact, keep secrets, or show hostility toward them.

Parents, we can work together to help make parenting smoother for you.

The key to being successful as a parent begins by understanding your role and what your role is not. Knowing your role clearly as a parent allows you to build relationships with your children and influence them positively while freeing yourself from questioning if your actions are the correct approach.

When you consult with me about your child’s specific issues, we will identify what is not working and create a plan to address it. We will use sound psychological and behavioral principles to help you parent in a realistic and manageable way so that things begin to make sense again.

Meet the challenges of parenting and help your child navigate growing up while developing a meaningful connection. My role is to help you meet the challenges and find ways to solve issues that arise.
